Dan Smith, founder of Darby-Dan
Kennels, has been actively showing and breeding German
Shepherd Dogs since 1961. He and his wife, Marilyn,
have finished dozens of AKC Champions,
including several GSDCA Selects, CKC Champions, and GSDC
of Canada Selects. Most of those,
including the GSDCA and GSDCC winners, are from the
Smiths own breeding. They have also bred five schutzhund-titled
Shepherds, including one dual-titled CH and a SchH1 dog.
Dan has been a member of the GSDCA
since 1968, of USA since 1983, and of the GSDCA-WDA since 1992.
He has also been a member of the SV in Germany since
1994. He is a past board member and president of the German Shepherd Dog Club of America. He
is a co-founder and past president of GSDC of Greater
York, and is an AKC licensed judge since1987.
